Bogotá is a better cycling city than its reputation suggests. It has more protected bike lanes than anywhere else in Latin America, and on Sundays it closes 120 kilometres of road to cars entirely. This is four hours on a bicycle with a private guide, moving through the city at the speed locals actually use.

How the day works

• Your driver collects you from your hotel in Bogotá.
• You are fitted to a bicycle and helmet, and your guide checks everyone is comfortable before setting off.
• You ride through the city with a guide who sets the pace to the group, not the other way round.
• Technical support comes along for the whole ride, so a dropped chain or a soft tyre is not your problem.
• Your driver returns you to your hotel. Four hours in total.

Good to know

• You need to know how to ride a bicycle already. This is a tour, not a cycling lesson.
• Dress in layers. Bogotá mornings are cool and often grey, afternoons turn sunny, and a short shower is always possible. Bring a light jacket.
• Closed-toe shoes. Flip-flops and heels do not work on a bike.
• Bring sunscreen and a refillable water bottle. At 2,640 metres the UV is stronger than it feels.
• Four hours in total, including the drive each way.

How fit do I need to be?

Reasonably comfortable on a bike for a few hours. The route is urban and mostly flat by Bogotá standards, and the guide sets the pace to the slowest rider, but the altitude makes everything feel harder than it looks.

Is it safe to cycle in Bogotá?

On this route, yes. The city has an extensive protected lane network and your guide knows which corridors to use and which to avoid. You ride with a guide in front and technical support behind.

What if it rains?

Bogotá rain usually passes in twenty minutes. The tour continues unless conditions become genuinely unsafe, in which case you will be offered another date.

Can I bring my own bike?

You can, but the included bicycle is maintained for this route and comes with support. Tell us when you book if you would rather ride your own.

Is the guide bilingual?

Yes, English and Spanish.
