Colombia’s airports are named after the city they serve, but four of the nine we cover sit in a different municipality altogether: Medellín’s is in Rionegro, Cali’s in Palmira, Barranquilla’s in Soledad and Bucaramanga’s in Lebrija. That is the single most common surprise for first-time arrivals, because it decides how long the drive into town takes. Here is the full list with the IATA code printed on your ticket.

Medellín also has a second airport inside the city, Olaya Herrera (EOH), used mainly for regional flights, so check which code is on your ticket before you book a transfer. Colombia has other international airports we do not cover yet, among them San Andrés, Armenia, Cúcuta and Leticia.
