Most coffee experiences near Bogotá are a tasting room with a view. Hacienda La Coloma is a working farm in Fusagasugá, an hour or so southwest and several degrees warmer, and the tour follows the plant the whole way: seedbeds, plantation, processing, then the cup. Lunch is included and so is the coffee liquor, which is not something you find at home.
How the day works
- An early start. Your driver collects you from your hotel in Bogotá.
- You descend out of the savanna toward Fusagasugá, watching the temperature climb as the altitude drops.
- At the hacienda, a resident coffee expert walks you through the whole cycle: seedbeds, the plantation itself, then the processing that turns cherry into green bean.
- Tasting, including the farm’s coffee liquor.
- Lunch at the hacienda, included.
- Your driver returns you to Bogotá. Around eight hours door to door.

Frequently asked questions
Isn’t the coffee region much further away?
It is, and this is not it. Hacienda La Coloma is in Fusagasugá in Cundinamarca, close enough to Bogotá for a day trip. If you want Salento and the Cocora Valley, that is a separate journey to Quindío.
Do I need to like coffee?
It helps, but the farm itself is the draw: the process is genuinely interesting, and the setting is warm and green in a way Bogotá never is.
Can I buy coffee at the farm?
Yes. Purchases are not included, but buying from the farm you have just walked around is the good version of a souvenir.
Is lunch really included?
Yes, at the hacienda. Breakfast is not, and the start is early, so eat before pickup.
Private or shared?
Both run. Choose in the booking calendar above.
