Juan Curí Natural and Ecological Park is a conservation reserve first and an adventure destination second: a protected watershed in the Santander canyon system, focused on reforesting and preserving the ecosystem that feeds its 120-metre waterfall. That framing is visible within a few minutes of arriving. The zipline runs through actual tree canopy. The cave walk passes through rock shaped by water over thousands of years. The pools at the base are natural wells scoured into canyon rock by the force of the fall above them.

How the day works

• Pickup and the drive out (1 to 3 hours). Depends on your base. Transfer time is inside the total, so guests staying closer to the park get more time in it.
• The adventure circuit (about 2 hours). A 200-metre zipline running 90 metres above the ground, straight over the canyon with the waterfall in front of you, plus the cave walk and abseiling near the falls.
• Free time at the waterfall (about 2 hours). Trails, the water wells, and the base of the 120-metre fall, with the guide and park staff on hand.
• The drive back (1 to 3 hours).

Good to know

• Bring a change of clothes. If you swim in the falls and the water wells you will get wet, and a dry set for the drive home makes the day considerably better.

• No experience needed for any of it. The park’s team provides all the safety equipment for the zipline, the abseiling and the canyoning, and briefs you before each one.
• Eat before pickup. Breakfast and lunch are not included. Bring snacks and water. There may be food near the park, but confirm with your guide on the day rather than counting on it.
